Rancho Santa Fe Dental Implant Study Club
The Rancho Santa Fe Dental Implant Study Club was established in 1988, and has been active ever since. Presently there are 60 members on the mailing list, and we meet six times on a monthly basis during the spring and fall. Meetings are usually held at the Rancho Santa Fe Inn in the evenings including a dinner and one to two hour presentation or discussion. We have had the opportunity to listen to prominent doctors from around the world on implant related topics including treatment planning, practice management, implant surgery, site development, restoration, laboratory procedures, esthetic outcomes, and long term maintenance. Numerous implant companies have had the opportunity to update us on their recent developments so that we as a group can stay at the cutting edge of this technology.
Membership is on an annual basis from fall to spring and is
$50.00. There is a
$35.00 charge per meeting to cover the cost of meals. Reservations can be made
on-line, or by calling my office at (760) 942-1333.

Re: The Rancho Santa Fe Dental Implant Study Club
Dear Colleagues:
Welcome to 2008! It is hard to believe that we have had our study club now for
twenty years! Im afraid I dont have any special celebration planned, but we
are continuing with our spring meetings. Please see the list below:
Thursday, January 31, 2008 Rancho Santa Fe Inn
6:30 7:30 Dinner
7:30 9:00 Program: Recent advances to enhance implant
treatment for both doctors and patients, presented by Dr. Robert Blackwell
and sponsored by 3i. Dr. Blackwell is a restorative dentist who maintains a
private practice while working as a Clinical Associate Professor on the faculty
of the Implant Center at Southern Illinois University and an Adjunct Professor
at both St. Louis University and the University of Nevada. He will be presenting
on three topics:
1. How to shorten treatment times through early loading,
immediate loading and immediate restoration.
2. Bone preservation around implants through platform
switching.
3. CT guided surgery to enhance treatment outcomes.
Thursday, February 21, 2008 Rancho Santa Fe Inn
6:30 7:30 Dinner
7:30 9:00 Program: Osseous Technologies of America
with Bill Knox CEO/President. Bill is a long time friend and colleague many of
you may have met when he worked with Interpore and Friadent. He now has his own
company with numerous innovative products for both the surgeon and restorative
dentist. He will be sharing many of these new products with us along with
instruction on the use and recommendations as to the indications. Bill is always
a great presenter and this should be interesting as well as entertaining. He
will be bringing Dr. Vincent Morgan, the President of Bicon with him who will
also share some of the recent changes in that implant system.
We will not be having any meetings in March or April due to the AO meeting in
Boston from February 28 March 1, and the Biomet 3i Global Symposium from April
24 26. If any of you wish more information on these meetings do not hesitate
to give me a call. They should both be excellent.
As usual the cost is $35.00 per dinner meeting and a $50.00 membership fee for
the year (if you made a membership payment in the fall of 06 dont pay any more
now). This can all be done online at WheelerDDS.com. I will always post any
changes in meeting times or dates as well.
See you soon!
Stephen L. Wheeler, D.D.S.
